I’m looking to set up a new website for our window cleaning business. I need to find one that is free to run. I know that usually means getting something with the web site name tagged on the back of it. For instance, my blogs here on Word Press are free, therefore after the name of the site, they all have .wordpress.com. Whereas if I were paying for them they would be http://www.muchadoaboutfreelancing.com. (note-not a valid link)
I know several web sites that are used for photo blogs, or a place to store writing that an author does; do any of you utilize a particular web site for this purpose? Again, I don’t plan on paying for something at this time, so it would need to have that option available until I would be able to switch it over when I could better afford to pay for it.
I’m looking for something appropriate for our window cleaning business, not something for the various blogs or writing that I do.
Just thought I’d stop and check in with my readers. I’ve stopped doing the 30 day blogging challenge if you didn’t notice that already on your own. Since I’m trying to get things done in my house so I can delegate more of my free time this winter to research and writing in my many blogs, I decided that any extra thing I get involved in takes away from my goals in that area.
I did the prompt blogging for six days, and that was enough. I found that all the members of the group weren’t even doing the posting this month as it’s considered an unofficial month. Every other month is either official or unofficial. On the unofficial months the members that want to take part take turns giving a prompt while the rest write something relating to that prompt.
For the official months the group leader gives all the prompts and there are prizes involved to those that participate. Nano took enough of my time,.I need to minimize the extra tasks I take on, not make things worse, otherwise, I’ll never get things accomplished.
I’m hoping to work the revisions into my husband’s book within the month and then begin to send his manuscript to a friend that has agreed to proof it for us. Rather than working with the small press as we had planned we may check into publishing the ebook format first with Amazon.
Prompt: Writing- the journey from rambling to refined.
A friend and I both have trouble writing without doing any rambling. For me that may be because blogging is somewhat casual, and many of my posts are written in that manner.
One of my goals is to write articles and for that I won’t be able to ramble at all. In fact if I find that I can write decent articles, then I would hope my writing would be more refined. Probably my writing won’t be where it should be in ten years, but at least it should be better than it has been in the past.
Along with writing articles, I want to get better at writing stories. I also want to have web sites set up with single blog niches. I have some ideas for how to accomplish this, and I have been making notes on topics I’d like to cover. Then I need to write some e-books on different aspects of each niche/topic and this is another way in which article writing will come into play and where it would be better for more refined writing.
Everyone’s journey will probably be different. That wouldn’t suggest that one journey is better than another, it would be what is best for each individual writer.
Prompt: To wish upon a fallen star… The prompt can be used any way you choose, and have fun with it.
I don’t believe my family ever taught myself or my brothers and sisters to wish on a falling star, nor do I ever remember doing so. I don’t think I even ever saw a falling star when I was growing up, so it wasn’t something I thought about.
As an adult, I have seen falling stars before. Since I don’t wish upon falling stars and I didn’t teach my children that either, I thought I would look up what it is.
When a ‘star’ appears to fall from the sky, what that is (in layman’s terms) is debris from a comet as it’s going around the sun. The orbit of the comet and the orbit of Earth cross paths. As that particle hits Earth’s atmosphere it falls toward Earth, but burns up before it hits. If it doesn’t burn up before it hits the ground, then that bit that is left is known as a meteorite.
If you feel the need to wish upon a falling star which is really only debris in the sky, why not find some dust under your bed instead and you can wish on that every day. (My humor needs a bit of work, don’t you think?)
Today’s prompt: : Where do you find the time? How do you make time for yourself in your daily routine?
I could go many ways with today’s prompt. I do have some extra time in my daily life, but do I want to spend it all working? Probably not. Partly because I’m not a Type A personality, therefore, I like to spend time on the computer. I don’t get a lot done while there unless I’m blogging, or writing stories, or articles or even working on straightening my space or getting book work done.
I do also like to play certain online games. Currently I play two of them, and usually the last hour or so before bedtime. I play Zuma Blitz and Mahjong Trails, both games on Facebook.
Can you tell, I’m digging a hole for myself here. I was thinking that I didn’t have a lot of time to do things for me. I guess when I think about that I think about shopping, or getting a manicure or pedicure. Those three are things I rarely do. Believe it or not I’ve never even been to a casino, although I wouldn’t consider that something that I do for me.
What I really want to make more time for is getting more writing done on a regular basis. I do have some ideas that I hope to implement this winter when things slow down (if they do).
I guess it depends on how you look at those questions. Many who read this would say that’s all I do is make time for myself, while others that know me personally tell me it’s okay to play my games because they think I work more than I should. I will agree with that part, I do work more than I should; I think about retiring yet here I am working two jobs and it appears that there is no end in sight.
One thing that I would like to do more of is hang out with friends from work, or friends I’ve had for thirty years, or join a club in town of some type like a writing group or something. Those desires will have to wait until I can either eliminate a job or work fewer hours there.
Prompt: A New Normal, or Looking For Your New Normal
I wasn’t actually thinking about having a new normal in those terms, this year. I know that is something you think about during New Year’s resolution‘s time.
After nano, though, I do want to make some changes in my writing. I want to post in my offsite blogs on a consistent basis. Right now, I’m putting my posts from this challenge on my freelancing blog there, daily. Later I hope to write on at least two blogs weekly if not more often than that.
For my new normal I also want to get my life in order more. I need to work on organizing several rooms and during the winter months is about the only time to be able to do this as I’m not so busy. I also want to get my papers worked through. I do my best to throw away junk mail as it comes in, but it’s all the other mail that piles up. A lot of it I haven’t looked at in a long time, but since I don’t know what all of the piles contain, I can’t just throw it all away without going through it all first.
I hope to burn a lot of my spreadable’s as my shredder quit working a year or so ago. I am quite behind on that task.
That is enough to get me started on a new normal for my life. I have so many things that I’m behind in, but if I can accomplish those things, it will free up time to work on the others at a later date, oh joy!
Thirty Day Blogging Challenge, day two prompt: So while you’re relaxing today, reflect on what you think might be fun to be if you could have some body parts of an animal. How would those feel in place of your normal equipment. Maybe you’d like to be a centaur or other mythical creature (merperson, etc.?). Have fun with it.
Let me start by saying that this type of prompt would normally not be my cup of tea. Since this isn’t something that I believe like some people might I will stretch my imagination a little more than usual and see what I can come up with.
I’ve had dreams most of my life of getting away from people (and when younger, from my dad) by flying into the air. I would not exchange any body parts I do have for wings. I think instead my arms would somehow take the place of wings by moving fast enough to make and sustain the wind currents to be able to stay away from others if that was what I was trying to do.
I know that one day i will be in the air, but I won’t have to flap my wings or arms to make it happen. It will happen because I have a date for a day in the future to meet someone in the clouds. After that takes place, either right away or after several years (I don’t remember how much time passes) I will be able to visit earth and be in one place in one moment and then transport to another location at will. All of that is not related to being a part of an animal, though. It is something that will be for a certain qualification of people.
Having the ability to fly reminds me of a few songs that have been popular through the years.
One might be called Hummingbird Don’t Fly Away, and it seems like there were one or two more in the last ten years or so. Maybe I’ll look them up later.
A friend of mine read this post and it reminded her of a Church Hymn. It might be called I’ll Fly Away by Albert E. Brumley.
